A good skincare routine doesn't have to be complicated.
In fact, we believe the best routines are often the simplest.
Choose products that support one another:
- A gentle cleanser to prepare your skin.
- A hydrosol to add hydration.
- Tallow to nourish and support your skin barrier.
- Weekly exfoliation and clay masks to keep skin feeling fresh.
- Botanical oils when your skin needs extra care.
When each product has a purpose, your routine becomes less about chasing trends and more about caring for your skin consistently.
1. A gentle cleanser
Healthy skin begins with clean skin, but not squeaky clean skin.
Harsh cleansers can strip away your skin's natural oils, leaving it feeling tight and dry before you've even applied your moisturizer. Instead, choose a gentle cleanser that removes dirt, sunscreen, and makeup while respecting your skin barrier.
When your skin isn't overly stripped, your tallow moisturizer can do what it does best—help nourish and support your skin.
2. A hydrosol or botanical mist
This is one of the easiest ways to improve your skincare routine.
While tallow helps lock moisture into the skin, it doesn't replace hydration itself. Applying your tallow cream to slightly damp skin helps seal in that moisture, leaving your skin feeling softer and more comfortable.
We love using pure hydrosols because they offer lightweight hydration while bringing the gentle benefits of herbs like rose, lavender, or green tea to your routine.
Tip: Mist your face immediately after cleansing, then apply a pea-sized amount of tallow while your skin is still slightly damp.
3. A gentle exfoliant
Even the richest moisturizer can't absorb as well if it's sitting on a layer of dead skin cells.
Exfoliating once or twice a week helps reveal smoother skin and allows your tallow moisturizer to absorb more evenly.
4. A clay mask
Clay masks make a wonderful weekly reset.
They help lift excess oil, dirt, and impurities from the skin without leaving it feeling overly dry when used appropriately. After rinsing away your mask, follow with a hydrosol and finish with your favorite tallow cream to replenish moisture.
Think of it as giving your skin a fresh canvas.
5. Botanical Face Oils
For very dry, mature, or weather-stressed skin, a botanical face oil can be a beautiful addition.
Oils rich in rosehip, prickly pear seed, raspberry seed, or sea buckthorn complement tallow well by adding additional nourishment and supporting the skin's natural barrier.
On especially dry days, apply your face oil after your tallow cream, or mix a drop into your moisturizer before applying.
6. Lip Balm
Your lips don't produce oil the way the rest of your skin does, making them especially vulnerable to dryness.
A nourishing lip balm made with ingredients like tallow, beeswax, and botanical oils helps keep lips soft and comfortable throughout the day.
It's a small step that makes a noticeable difference.
7. Body Care
Your face isn't the only place that deserves attention.
Dry elbows, knees, hands, and feet often need extra nourishment especially during colder months or in dry climates.
Using a gentle body wash followed by a rich body butter or tallow balm while your skin is still slightly damp helps lock in moisture from head to toe.
