Where ocasa began
OCASA was born from one of my favorite moments of the day—the quiet hours around sunset.
The name was inspired by the Spanish word ocaso, meaning sunset: that moment when the desert begins to cool, the light turns golden, and everything seems to slow down.
It became a reminder of how I wanted skincare to feel. Not another rushed step in a complicated routine, but a small ritual that gives you a reason to pause.
As I spent more time in the American West, however, I realized it wasn't only the sunsets that inspired me.
It was the landscape itself.
The desert is dry, windblown, exposed, and constantly changing—yet life here finds extraordinary ways to endure. Plants grow deeper roots, conserve precious moisture, and bloom despite conditions that seem almost impossible.
That resilience changed the way I thought about skincare.
Instead of asking what ingredients were trending, I began asking a different question:
What can the plants that have already learned to thrive here teach us?
That question continues to shape OCASA today.

Formulated for life in dry climates
Living between the dry landscapes of the West taught me how differently skin behaves when it's constantly exposed to low humidity, wind, intense summers, and cold, dry winters.
That's why OCASA looks to resilient botanicals for inspiration.
From Arizona-grown jojoba to prickly pear, lavender, and the native desert plants I'm continuing to study, I'm drawn to ingredients that come from landscapes where adaptation isn't optional.
I don't believe that a plant's ability to survive the desert automatically translates into the same effect on our skin. But I do believe the desert is one of nature's greatest teachers—and its remarkable plants continue to inspire the ingredients and formulas I create.

Meet Edina
I grew up on a small farm in Eastern Europe, where herbs, nourishing food, and traditional remedies were simply part of everyday life.
Long before I understood the word herbalism, I understood that plants had a place in how we cared for ourselves.
Years later, after moving to the United States and eventually spending time living and working throughout the American West, I found myself returning to those early lessons.
My curiosity led me to study holistic nutrition, herbalism, holistic esthetics, and botanical skincare formulation. What began as a personal interest eventually became the foundation for the way I create every OCASA formula today.
I don't formulate around trends or the longest ingredient list.
I formulate around purpose.
Every ingredient has to earn its place.
Guided by herbalism
We are always students of the land.
My formulation and curation process is shaped by years of studying herbalism, holistic wellness, and botanical skincare.
I earned my Introduction to Herbalism certificate through the Herbal Academy and completed Introduction to Holistic Esthetics through a leading botanical skincare company. I've also continued my education through coursework in Botanical Skincare, Tea Blending, and Emulsifiers & Preservatives in Botanical Products.
Beyond formal education, I regularly attend herbal conferences, continue studying with respected herbalists, and am always exploring the science and traditions behind the plants I work with.
But some of my greatest inspiration still comes from the generations who came before us—people who understood their local plants, animals, seasons, and landscapes because their lives depended on that knowledge.
I believe there is great value in carrying that curiosity forward.

We choose ingredients intentionally, make what we can by hand, and remain curious enough to keep learning.
Simple doesn't mean thoughtless.
For us, it means considered.

OCASA began with the skincare I formulate and make myself, but my vision for the apothecary has always been larger than what one person can create.
Today, our shelves also include products from herbalists, farmers, formulators, and small makers whose work I genuinely use and believe in.
Every outside product is personally considered before it earns a place here. I look at the ingredients, the maker behind it, how it's made, and whether it offers something worthwhile that I wouldn't simply recreate myself.
The goal isn't to carry everything.
It's to make finding thoughtful products a little easier.
