Brand Story

Mother Mountain Herbals

Stina is an herbalist, horsewoman, and the creator behind Mother Mountain Herbals. Her work is a reflection of her lifelong devotion to folk herbalism and her desire to keep traditional plant medicine alive in a way that feels beautiful, accessible, and deeply connected to place.

She has called both the Appalachian Mountains and the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains home, tending gardens and learning from the land everywhere in between. Mother Mountain Herbals takes its name from the mystical rhododendron forests of Asheville, North Carolina, where Stina spent years studying plants and crafting remedies. It was there, in 2014, that the business first came to life.

A longing to reconnect with the plants of her birthplace eventually brought her back to Tucson, Arizona. Now surrounded by saguaro, prickly pear, and creosote, the desert continues to shape and inspire her work. Every product she creates is rooted in a deep reverence for the plants and the old herbal traditions that guide her.

The ingredients she uses are never “just ingredients.” Stina sources many of her herbs from family‑run North American farms that go well beyond standard organic practices. Others come from responsible, regenerative wildcrafting of abundant, weedy species. Her approach is grounded in reciprocity, a belief that the relationship between people and plants should be one of respect, care, and gratitude.
