WHAT'S IN THE JAR
Tallow from California grass-fed cows
Tallow has been used in traditional skin preparations for generations. Naturally rich in fatty acids, its lipid-rich composition makes it especially well suited to nourishing dry skin. It helps soften + condition while supporting the skin’s moisture barrier and reducing moisture loss—exactly what skin needs in dry, low-humidity climates.
Organic Arizona-grown Jojoba Oil
Jojoba is a lightweight liquid wax with a composition similar to skin’s natural sebum. It helps soften + condition without a heavy, greasy feel, making it well suited for dry, combination + blemish-prone skin.
Organic Castor Oil
Naturally rich in ricinoleic acid, castor oil is a deeply conditioning emollient that helps soften skin + reduce moisture loss. Its rich texture makes it especially suited to dry, mature + depleted-feeling skin.
Organic Frankincense Resin
Frankincense is naturally rich in aromatic compounds including α-pinene, α-thujene + limonene, and is valued for its antioxidant properties. Traditionally used in skincare for generations, it is especially loved for mature skin and for supporting the appearance of smoother, firmer + more even-looking skin.
NEW TO TALLOW? A few things you may be wondering before your first jar.
Is this made with frankincense essential oil?
No. We work with frankincense in its resin form, slowly infusing the resin into organic jojoba before blending it into our tallow cream.
Why do you use frankincense resin instead of essential oil?
Frankincense begins as an aromatic resin harvested from Boswellia trees. Rather than relying on distilled essential oil for scent, we work directly with the resin through a slow oil infusion—one of the traditional botanical preparation methods we use throughout OCASA.
Will it smell strongly like frankincense?
No. Because we aren't adding frankincense fragrance or essential oil, the aroma is naturally subtle, earthy + resinous rather than strongly scented.
Is this only for mature skin?
Not at all. We created Frankincense with mature, dry + depleted-feeling skin in mind, but anyone looking for a richer, deeply nourishing tallow ritual can use it.
What's the difference between Frankincense + Vanilla?
Both are rich formulas for dry skin. Vanilla is our everyday choice for thirsty skin, while Frankincense was created with mature, dry + depleted-looking skin in mind and features a slow infusion of real frankincense resin.
Why should I apply tallow to damp skin?
Tallow is water-free, so we recommend hydrating first. Mist freshly cleansed skin with a hydrosol, then press your tallow into slightly damp skin to help seal that hydration in.
